Strings of Gold

Strings of Gold

The Strings of Gold began in 2000 following an opportunity to play in a chamber master class for the world renowned Saint Petersburg String Quartet at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. The three sisters- MaeLynn, Danae, and Sarah- performed a quartet by Mozart with a friend on viola, and were so inspired by the experience that they began performing as a trio with a zeal that has since inspired audiences of all ages.

SOG adventures have taken them to public libraries, schools, colleges, festivals, galleries, senior centers, churches, Salt Fork Lodge, Great Wolf Lodge, ball rooms, The Tall Ships Festival, the Allen Theatre, the Medina Arts Star Series, restaurants, the heart of Amish country, and countless other places.

SOG has toured Borders stores throughout Ohio sharing live performance and introducing their special music.

SOG has been featured in local northeast Ohio newspaper articles such as the Chronicle Telegram, Oberlin Tribune, Sun Times, and the Medina County Gazette. Radio listeners have enjoyed SOG performing live on WOBL, The FISH, WCRF, and on a public radio feature interview in London, England.    In December of 2003, SOG was invited to join Andre Bernier from Fox 8 television and Mark Zimmerman from WCRF radio on the nationally broadcasted live radio show "Soup Du Jour" hosted at the Akron Baptist Temple.

SOG was invited to play for a seasonal special aired on PAX Television for the famous Stan Hyett Hall and Gardens in Akron, Ohio, Christmas Day 2003. They have also appeared on FOX 8 and the Lorain County Community College show "NOW".

Medina county artists were so taken by the trio's poise as they performed at an art exhibition- SOG was enlisted for a special project which entailed "performing" as they were captured in paint and charcoal by five artists.

Upon invitation, SOG has performed in the Medina Performing Arts Foundation "Star Series", where they premiered "Soundshades" at the Grace Drake Performing Arts Hall, located on the historic square in Medina, Ohio. The trio has presented concerts in Stocker Center's Lecture Hall, the Parkside Church "Recital Series at the Commons", Hoover Auditorium at Lakeside Park in Sandusky, and at the Cleveland Museum of Art "Friday Evening Concert Series".

SOG has enjoyed sharing their love of music in school music classes. The trio presents concerts of varying musical styles and also offers special programs with narratives such as "Peter and the Wolf".

SOG has supported other young aspiring musicians by contributing to the scholarship fund of CREDO summer music festival hosted at the Oberlin Conservatory, where they participated in both the festival and the community service outreach.
